Abatement
of GHG emissions
Following the completion of the Self-Assessment
Exercise on Climate Change, II.phase was initiated through
UNDP Country Office in order to enable the project proposal
applications for TUBITAK Public Research & Development Program
that also ensured the continuation of the Climate Change Country
Programme of Turkey. These activities targeting preliminary
and mid-term outputs to Turkey's INC, was supervised and financed
solely by UNDP.
The total budget (used to enable submittal
of TUBITAK Project Proposals) : :25,000 USD by UNDP
Project name:
Abatement of GHG emissions produced due to transport sector
in term of controlling/prevention of climate change
Approved in: December 2005, Ankara,
Turkey
Budget: 592,900 YTL
Timeline: 3 years
Executing Public Agency: Ministry of
Transport - Generale Directorate Railways, Harbors and Airports
constructions (DLH)
Partners: ITU, TUBITAK-MAM
The scope of the Project
Establishment of a model for the analysis of different
means of transport will be developed to examine GHG emissions
per passenger/km and per freight kg/km. Total energy cycle
and technologies will be included in the model. Some scenarios
will be developed and examined for near and long term technological
developments and changes.
Project Outputs
- to prepare the emission inventory of GHG
gases specific to vehicles of highway, harbors, railways
and airports and determination of present situation
- to determine vehicle classification and
analyze parameters that is effective in GHG emission production
due to transport activities upon the results of the regional
evaluation on all over national
- to estimate GHG projections of future
in the case of previous conditions sustains 'as it is scenario'
- to determine prevention tools according
to results of cost-benefit analysis in terms of short and
long term scenarios.
Preparation of the Project Proposal initiated
by UNDP Country Office
The project is funded by Government of
Turkey under the umbrella of TUBITAK public R&D Program
