Objective
The UNDP/TURKEY CO Internship Programme offers a small group of outstanding university and graduate-level students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNDP/TURKEY CO’s work. It is designed to provide a compact understanding of UNDP’s development cooperation policies, thematic priorities and technical cooperation for development activities with practical experience in the various aspects of project management in an international work environment.
Description
Assignments may vary in length according to the availability and academic requirements of the intern, as well as the needs of UNDP/TURKEY. Assignments are normally up to six months and available throughout the year. Priority will be given to the Turkish nationals.
Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications are required:
Enrollment in a university (preferably 3rd or 4th year students) or a graduate-level degree programme in a development-related field such as economics, international relations, sociology, public or business administration, political sciences or environmental studies
Excellent written and spoken English
Excellent computer knowledge (Microsoft Applications, ie. Word, Excel, Power Point)
Demonstrated keen interest in the work of UN, and of UNDP in particular, and have a personal commitment to UNDP’s Statement of Purpose and to the ideals of the UN Charter
Excellent interactive skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment
Status
Interns are considered gratis personnel. They are not staff members.
Interns may not be sought or accepted as substitutes for staff to be recruited against authorized posts.
Interns may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
Financial Aspects
The Internship Programme operates on a non-salaried basis. The subsistence and travel costs connected with the internship Programme must be borne by the nominating institution or by the applicant. All travel and accommodation arrangements will have to be undertaken by the applicant.
Medical Coverage
UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs or fatality arising from illness or accidents incurred during the internship. Therefore, the applicant must carry adequate and regular medical and life insurance.
Subsequent Employment
The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNDP but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.
Should an offer of employment be envisaged, a 3-month break, from the end of the internship, must be respected.
Interns cannot apply for posts during the period of internship.
