TURKEY BUILDS ON ITS EMERGING DONOR ROLE

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TİKA) will launch the “Strengthening Turkey’s Role as an Emerging Donor” project at TIKA premises, on Thursday, 9th October 2008 at 10:00 a.m. The project, funded by the Government of Turkey and implemented by TIKA with the support of UNDP, aims to strengthen the national capacity of Turkey as an emerging donor. This will be done through developing the capacity of TİKA in preparing and managing Turkey’s development assistance programs in line with the Paris Declaration Principles.

 

“Bridging South-South Cooperation and Emerging Donor Roles: Strengthening Turkey’s Participation in International Development Cooperation”, which will be implemented within the framework of the South-South Cooperation Initiatives, will improve Turkey’s contribution to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through sharing of its experiences and “best practices” with other developing countries. The project will be inaugurated by the State Minister Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sait Yazıcıoğlu, UNDP Turkey Resident Representative Mr. Mahmood Ayub and President of TİKA Mr. Musa Kulaklıkaya.
